Contractor completes Kettering hospital job

Assura has finished the construction of Glendon Wood Hospital in Kettering.

This new facility, funded by Assura, started operating on August 1. The hospital features advanced services to address the growing needs of local patients in Glendon.

It includes two surgery rooms, an endoscopy unit, outpatient consultation spaces, and a radiology department. The radiology department is equipped with digital mammography, static CT and MRI machines, X-ray capabilities, and ultrasound services.

The NHS aims to use private community diagnostic centres (CDCs) to reduce wait times for patients. This new hospital, which started being built in 2021, will serve both NHS and private patients.

This also brings about new job opportunities in the area. Around 150 roles will open up in nursing, clinical work, administration, and support services.

Paul Warwick, director of sustainability and projects at Assura, said: “We are delighted to see this – our 101st development – reach completion and open to patients in Kettering. It will be a huge asset to Ramsay Health Care UK and the Woodland Hospital, with demand for the hospital’s services having drastically increased due to the local population growth.

“In line with the government’s newly announced community diagnostic centre initiatives, this new building will help alleviate this demand through the provision of a modern, fit-for-purpose and sustainable building offering diagnostic services for the local community.”
