Island Quarter venues celebrate one-year anniversary

1 The Island Quarter

The Island Quarter in Nottingham has quickly established itself, for its restaurant, bar and event venue triumvirate.

Visitors can enjoy a diverse range of experiences, from casual all-day dining and entertainment at Binks Yard, featuring a spacious outdoor terrace, stage and screen for live performances, to fine dining at the Cleaver & Wake restaurant and bar.

Today (October 13) Cleaver & Wake will mark its one-year anniversary.

To commemorate its anniversary, all guests dining at the à la carte restaurant will receive a complimentary glass of English sparkling Hattingley to join in the celebration.

The restaurant takes great pride in its use of locally sourced ingredients to create the freshest dishes and throughout the year. It has adapted its menu, enabling chefs to explore even more creative flavour combinations for their guests to enjoy.

Over the course of the year, Cleaver & Wake have been able to introduce weddings to its venue, while also booking 114 events, which have included product launches, celebrity events, corporate events and parties, art exhibitions and wreath-making classes.

Lily Shearwood, marketing executive at Cleaver & Wake, said: “When we launched Cleaver & Wake, our aim was to bring a dining experience with a difference to the city. Looking back over all we’ve achieved since we first opened our doors last year, it’s clear that we’ve accomplished what we set out to do. We’ve succeeded in filling a gap in the market in Nottingham. And, the fact that we’ve been fully booked most weekends since we first opened our doors, is a real testament to that. Cleaver has become a must-visit for foodies across the Midlands and beyond. We’ve built a loyal following of regular customers, who love dining with us and that’s what it’s all about.

“Cleaver & Wake was created to be a restaurant where food lovers could feel excited about visiting time and time again whether that’s for a lunch with friends, a birthday celebration, an anniversary dinner or even just a treat with loved ones. A standout USP for us is our stunning upstairs events space too. Since its launch, Upstairs at Cleaver & Wake space has provided the perfect setting for a whole range of celebrations while still staying true to the Cleaver & Wake ethos of elevated dining and top-quality food.”

Binks Yard also celebrated its one-year anniversary on September 16th, with a Soul & Motown celebration that included DJs like DJ Shozza and DJ Danny James.

Opening its doors in September last year, the venue was the first to launch at The Island Quarter as part of the first phase of the 36-acre development.

Ben Hicklin, head of events at Binks Yard, said: “We’ve always been really passionate about providing a space in the city where people from all walks of life could come together, and our rich and diverse calendar of events has played a big part in that. We pride ourselves on having something for everyone whether you’re a live music fan, a sports fan or you love to dance the night away to tracks from some of the world’s biggest DJs.

“We’re always investing in our events offering too, and over the year have purchased additional seating to accommodate the wide range of events we put on, with updates to our stage that will help us ensure we can keep throwing our events for many more years to come. It’s certainly been a fantastic first year here at Binks Yard, and we look forward to the next twelve months as we build on our successes to date, and provide even more reasons for people to visit.”
