Frasers Group puts 100 jobs at risk as it moves customer services operation to Derbyshire

Frasers Group is axing the customer service function at the Lancashire base of its Studio Retail business and moving it to its Shirebrook HQ in Derbyshire.

The retail group has entered into a consultation without around 100 currently based in Accrington, according to reports in the Lancashire Telegraph.

The affected staff were contacted by email to tell them of the plans to move the business unit to Shirebrook – almost 100 miles away.

The email said: “To improve operational efficiency, a proposal, subject to consultation, has been made to relocate the Customer Services operation from our existing Clayton-Le-Moors office to the Shirebrook office, and the Studio Customer Services Contact Centre in Clayton-Le-Moor will cease.

“On Thursday, October 12, our colleagues who are directly impacted by this announcement were briefed on the proposes changes and in the coming days will be contacted to explain what this means for them and their roles in more detail.”

Affected staff are likely to be made redundant on November 26, it is reported.

However, the future of Frasers Group’s Shirebrook base is under question after it submitted a planning application for a global headquarters campus at Ansty in Rugby, Warwickshire.

Frasers Group bought Studio Retail out of administration in February last year in a £26.8m deal.
