Australian cricketer John Hastings is leading the expansion of STRONG Pilates, a fitness franchise, in the UK.

His most recent opening has been in Leicester and with the network’s sales exceeding £10.8m, its goal now is to open 11 new fitness studios by March next year.

The new Leicester venue is 3,500 sq ft studio is on King Richards Road, with plans for more to come in Market Harborough, West Bridgford and other locations, including Fulham, Putney, Wimbledon, Exeter, Brighton, Dublin, Belfast, and Mayfair.

Founded in 2019, STRONG Pilates has already gained over 8,000 global members.

The opening of the Leicester studio will contribute to the creation of many jobs and if the goal for over 100 studios across the UK is achieved an expected total of 1200+ jobs will be created.

Ian Briers, studio owner said: “It’s hard to put into words how excited I am to bring the concept to Leicester. My background is in recruitment but fitness has always been a passion of mine. When I stumbled across the opportunity to open up my own STRONG Pilates franchise, I was instantly interested to learn more.

“I’m training to be a PT and my partner is a holistic therapist, so we’ve witnessed first-hand how the industry has changed to favour a holistic approach when it comes to fitness. I love the people in Leicester, and through STRONG Pilates, see a real opportunity to positively impact the lives of many across the city.”

John Hastings, STRONG Pilates UK managing director, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be opening our second UK studio in Leicester. I’ve always been a big advocate for reformers, particularly while I was playing international cricket. You see the toll it takes with Ben Stokes is a perfect example of that, and I personally, always turned to Pilates as both an injury prevention and recovery tool. Like Ian, I’m excited to see the impact STRONG Pilates has on the lives of people across Leicester and the East Midlands.”
