Flint Bishop, the Derby-headquartered law firm, has appointed a new chief operating officer (COO) as it readies plans for expansion.

The practice has posted record turnover of £20.7m for the year-ending April 2024, with total headcount passing 250 for the first time.

Flint Bishop has announced the appointment of Karen Walker as its new COO, with plans for growth including strategic acquisitions.

Walker joins Flint Bishop from Shakespeare Martineau, where she was chief transformation officer.

Her career also includes a six-year tenure as change director at Browne Jacobson.

Qamer Ghafoor, chief executive of Flint Bishop, said: “I am delighted to welcome Karen to the senior leadership team. Her appointment is a major coup for the firm and underscores our commitment to excellence and our ambitious growth strategy. She will play an important role as the firm undergoes a period of further planned expansion of organic growth and upcoming acquisitions of strategically sought law firms.

“As we commence our new financial year, we have already started to see significant growth across several of our teams, and our focus on recruitment of lateral hires and experienced staff will continue at pace. Flint Bishop is positioned for further expansion, with a clear trajectory towards becoming a recognised national player, expanding market recognition, and solidifying its presence on a broader scale.

“It’s an exciting time for the business, and I anticipate further growth and diversification in our client base and services in the new financial year that lies ahead.”

Flint Bishop also has offices in Birmingham.
