Up to 80 jobs on the line at Nottingham games studio

A Nottingham games studio could close next week, with up to 80 jobs at risk.

Free Radical Design, which is owned by games publishing giant Plaion, could close its Wollaton base on Monday December 11 after a consultation on the future of the site comes to an end.

Plaion vice-president, worldwide studios & talent, Lars Jannsen, told staff in an email: “As we move through the consultation process and face the potential closure of Free Radical Design on 11 December 2023, I want to express my gratitude for your commitment and the remarkable work you’ve done and still keep doing.

“This is a challenging time for all of us but especially for you, and our focus is to support you as much as we can during this transition.”

Free Radical Design, which is based in The Atrium buidling on Wollaton Street in Nottingham, is famous in the gaming world for creating the TimeSplitters series.
