Engineering firm expands presence in the Midlands with new premises

Robin Whitehead, CEO of BGEN

BGEN, an engineering firm headquartered in Warrington, has recently moved its operations to Derby.

The new Derby location provides a larger space, including workshop and manufacturing units, improved testing facilities, and expanded storage.

The relocation also accommodates the company’s growing workforce in Derby, reflecting its expanding presence in the region and recent contract wins.

BGEN plans to double its national headcount to over 1500 employees in the next year, with recruitment efforts spanning various roles, from engineers to administrative positions, as well as apprenticeships and graduate opportunities.

Situated in Derwent Park in Derby, the new premises house BGEN’s technology division, comprising a 30-member team.

This division provides specialised engineering services, including system integration and project management, across sectors such as water, power, energy, and industrial.

Robin Whitehead, CEO of BGEN: “Our recent move to a larger Derby site reflects our success in providing technical expertise and innovative engineering solutions to a growing customer base across the region. We’re being called upon to solve more engineering challenges of the modern world, which requires more space, facilities and expertise.

“We’ve achieved great success in Derby in just four years, and the city continues to be a strong strategic location for us. We’re now looking forward to our next phase of growth here, during which time we’ll continue to serve more key clients, with an even greater portfolio of products and services, whilst recruiting from the skilled workforce that’s available to us locally.”
