M1 closed in Leicestershire for second consecutive morning

The M1 is closed in Leicestershire for the second consecutive morning following police-led incident.

This morning (Janaury 18), National Highways is reporting that the southbound junction is shut between J22 (Markfield) and J21A (Leicester/A46).

A statement from the agency said: “Leicestershire Police currently lead the response to an incident which was first reported to National Highways at 5am. Due to the nature of this incident, we are currently unable to advise when the road is likely to re-open.

“National Highways have resources in attendance to assist with traffic management. “
