A £28m earthworks contractor is set to open a Midlands office in Derbyshire.

The move from ZTL Contracting comes as the firm appoints Matthew Warman as contracts manager and Shane Hodkinson as geotechnical engineering manager.

Warman joins ZTL Contracting to oversee the increasing workload and drive expansion into new regions, particularly the Midlands, where the firm will open an office in South Normanton at the end of March.

“Matthew’s appointment reflects our commitment to managing our growing portfolio of contracts effectively,” said ZTL Contracting commercial director, Wayne Morris.

He added: “His expertise is pivotal as we extend our presence, particularly in the Midlands, a region that is seeing remarkable growth in construction activities.”

Morris said: “Shane brings invaluable expertise in earthworks and geotechnical engineering, which is instrumental for our company’s technical advancement.

“His appointment is a testament to our commitment to providing our clients with the most effective earthworks and geotechnical solutions. Shane’s expertise in value engineering will enable us to deliver projects that exceed our client’s expectations.”

In 2023, ZTL Contracting secured 22 projects, turning over around £28m. The firm, which is based in Middlesbrough and Wakefield, hired around 20 new staff.
