All jobs go as 100-year-old haulage firm ceases trading

A 100-year-old Leicestershire haulage company has ceased trading, with all jobs lost, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.

As we reported on Monday (April 8), administrators from FRP Advisory have been called into CC & RJ Emerson, which specialises in waste and recycling transportation, including scrap metal as well as aggregate materials.

Miles Needham and John Lowe of FRP Advisory were named joint administrators on April 4, the day before CC and RJ Emerson filed a notice of intention to appointment administrators.

Now, we understand that Emerson had shut up shop before the administrators were appointed.

A spokesperson for FRP Advisory told TheBusinessDesk.com: “The business closed prior to the administration of FRP and the joint administrators are now working with agents to sell the assets.”

Although it is unclear how many people have lost their jobs at the family-run haulage firm, its latest accounts, made up to March 31 2023, show the company employed around 50 people at the time.

It operated a fleet with 35 tractor units, five rigid 8-wheelers, and 40 trailers.
