Green light to turn former bank into new restaurant

Al Rayan Bank building

Manjaros, renowned for its fusion of Caribbean and African flavours, is eyeing a location in Leicester.

The city council has approved the transformation of the former Al Rayan Bank building on London Road and Saxby Street into Manjaros’ latest restaurant, capable of seating 56 people.

Known for its signature parmesan chicken, the menu also offers a variety of other parmesan options, grilled dishes, skewers, burgers, platters, pizza, and wraps.

With 18 locations across the UK, including Birmingham, London, Newcastle, Leeds, and Preston, Manjaros is owned by Rafiq Ali.

Several residents voiced worries regarding the potential noise and odour effects of the proposal, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Nevertheless, planning officials stated they were content with the proposal after evaluating its impact on neighbouring properties.

They noted that any noise issues could be addressed through conditions imposed upon plan approval.
