GT3 Architects supports Nottingham Hot Property for fifth year
As this year’s Nottingham Hot Property gets closer and closer, we caught up with Matt McCreith, senior architect at this year’s t-shirt sponsor GT3 Architects, all about his thoughts on the popular charity event as he supports it for the fifth year, including his favourite memory from previous years and what we can expect from him as he takes the stage once again.
How many years have you supported/attended Hot Property?
This will be my 5th year supporting Hot Property, and it’s a staple in my calendar every year!
Why is Hot Property so important to you? Why did you want to sponsor the event?
The event is an institution in the Nottingham construction scene, one that has supported so many incredible charities and causes through a unique format. We’ve always wanted to support the event further, so we are really pleased to be a sponsor this year. The event shines a light on so many brilliant local charities and it aligns with our ethos as a practice which is very important to us.
What’s your favourite Hot Property memory or performance from over the years and why?
My first Hot Property in 2019 holds a special place in my heart. I joined GT3 Architects in the April and within my first week, my colleague Jade (an amazing signer) had persuaded me to sign up. I was an incredibly nervous guitar player and had never played in front of 8 people, let alone 800.
In my first rehearsal I really struggled with stage fright and if it wasn’t for the amazing support of the Hot Property family I probably wouldn’t have carried on. Despite that, my confidence grew a little and when the time came to don a curly wig and a pink nightie to perform Queen’s “I want to break free” alongside Jade, I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it. From that moment on the anxiousness and nerves completely evaporated and I’ve been a keen performer ever since!
Hot Property has been going now since 2004. What were you doing 20 years ago?
In 2004 I think I had just started playing the piano and not yet succumbed to the rockstar lifestyle of playing guitar.
What are you looking forward to most about Hot Property this year?
The new venue and time of year will make for a really exciting event, it keeps it fresh for everyone (audience & participants). Mostly, it’s been great to get together with the Hot Property family a little sooner than usual.
If you are performing, can you give us a sneaky clue about what we can expect?
Bring your chequerboard Vans shoes and the hoodies with thumbholes cut in the sleeves, things might get a little emo.
