Leicestershire labels firm alerts administrators

A Leicestershire-based label manufacturer is facing an uncertain future after posting a notice of intention to appoint administrators (NOI).

Hamilton Adhesive Labels, which is based on the Bardon Hill Industrial Estate, has alerted administrators through law firm Shoosmiths. It is thought that Leonard Curtis is lined up as the administrator.

The NOI will protect Hamilton from creditor action for a period of around 10 days.

Hamilton has worked with companies across the fresh and chilled, frozen, bakery, produce, food to go and pharmaceutical, personal or household care sectors.

The firm’s latest available accounts, made up to the end of October 2022, show that the firm made a profit of £334,727 on a turnover of almost £18m.

In the accounts, directors noted several new customers coming on stream and an expansion of Hamilton’s sales team. However, the same review of the financial year said that “margins continued to be under pressure, with raw material price increases imposed by the major paper suppliers, often at short notice, with were difficult to fully recover from [our] customers.”

The accounts showed that, at the time, Hamilton employed 76 people.

Hamilton has been contacted for comment.
