Big basketball final to be hosted in Nottingham

Super League Basketball (SLB) has picked Motorpoint Arena Nottingham to host the league’s inaugural Cup Final on March 9 2025.

The final will be the venue’s first-ever major British basketball event.

“We are excited to make history by bringing the Super League Basketball Cup Final to the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham,” said Vaughn Millette, interim chair of SLB.

“This venue is a perfect fit for an event of this magnitude. Its impressive facilities and passionate local community provide an exceptional platform to showcase the best of British basketball. We are eager to see fans from across the UK come together to witness a thrilling day of action, marking a new chapter in our sport’s growth.”

The event will feature back-to-back men’s and women’s finals.

The format for the men’s competition was announced earlier this month, confirming the inclusion of seven wildcard entrants from Basketball England and basketballscotland to join the nine SLB teams in the competition.

The women’s competition will see the top four teams in the SLB Championship as of December 31 enter a knockout tournament where first plays fourth and second plays third in a single-leg elimination for a place in the Final.
