Nottingham College tops Best Companies list
Nottingham College has been ranked the top further education college in the country, in the latest national Best Companies list for 2024.
The college ranked in the top 10 in the education and training category overall, and 43rd in the East Midlands across all industries, among health and social care, retail, construction and more.
The list is compiled by an anonymous employee engagement project called the b-Heard survey. Staff are invited to say how they have felt about various aspects of their working lives, by scoring a series of statements on a scale of “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree’. The top performing organisation’s results are then ranked in the Best Companies lists and broken down by sector and region.
Nottingham College has also achieved “One to Watch” status, which reflects organisations with “good” levels of workplace engagement.
The ranking follows a year of major investment in its employees and culture at Nottingham College. Staff have benefited from sector-leading pay awards, investment in new buildings and facilities, and new digital technologies.
Nottingham College has also launched new initiatives to support staff including a pledge to become an Endometriosis Friendly Employer, as well as partnerships with other local institutions including Nottingham Panthers ice hockey and Notts County Football Club.
The college recently announced record-breaking enrolment figures as well as an “Outstanding” Ofsted inspection result for its residential apprenticeship provision at Ruddington.
Emma-Kate Fletcher, vice principal of people and culture at Nottingham College, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be named the top Further Education college in this year’s Best Companies to Work For List. We know that Nottingham College is extraordinary, but to have this officially recognised is fantastic.
“We have over 1,700 members of staff and the results are truly testament to them. Our colleagues across both teaching and support services are exceptional, and collectively they make Nottingham College a brilliant place to work.
“It doesn’t end here – we are continuing to work together to continually make the college an even better place to work. We have lots more to come so watch this space.”
