On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

National law firm Freeths has expanded its trusts, estates and tax (TeT) talent in the East Midlands by a third over the past 12 months as it continues to bolster its offering for clients.

In welcoming five new starters over the last year amongst several senior promotions, the team has strengthened services in the region as the firm continues to invest in private client work across the UK.

As part of the growth, director Rahul Kotecha was appointed to lead the East Midlands service line with Marie Cooper being promoted to director.

Kotecha said: “As we reflect on our expansion over the last 12 months, it creates a real sense of excitement as we plan – not only have we broadened our performance across the region, but we have also been very much a part of the noise of a new economy. We are looking forward to continuing to expand our offering as we settle into the changes of a new Government.”

Leicester-based apprentice is celebrating starting her career at Persimmon Homes, having recently joined the finance team to begin her career as an accountant.

Ella Hextall joined the Persimmon North Midlands team in September, dividing her time between the office and Loughborough College, where she will complete the theory-based aspects of the apprenticeship.

Hextall is now completing an 18-month apprenticeship, which will see her become a qualified accountant by the end.

She said: I’m loving my time on the apprenticeship and learning from the Finance team, it’s been incredible so far. The team have been so welcoming and supportive, with someone on hand to answer any questions I may have. It’s been really exciting to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of how Persimmon operates as a business, as well as the specific aspects of the role.

“I’m so happy I decided to start an apprenticeship – and I’m grateful I was allowed to join the team at Persimmon. I’m very much looking forward to progressing further and continuing my career.”

Dan Endersby, managing director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “At Persimmon, we’re passionate about developing future talent and equipping our apprentices with the practical skills they need to thrive in the working world, as well as ensuring they have the necessary theoretical background from our partnerships with local colleges.

“It’s a delight to work with our apprentices daily, helping to coach them throughout the early stages of their career and watch them develop their skills.”
