On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Fishers Solicitors, which has offices in Derby, Ashby and Tamworth, has promoted Arlie Asbury to associate in the firm’s residential property department.

Asbury joined Fishers Solicitors in 2018, obtained her license in 2014 and is a member of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers.

She said: “I love working at Fishers. Since joining in 2018, the support from staff and management has been amazing in helping me progress my career. Every department is friendly, approachable, and always willing to assist with legal matters that arise in property transactions, such as probate, tax and trusts, and commercial and family law.

“Having access to such a wealth of knowledge under one roof has been invaluable, and I am extremely grateful for that.

“I am excited to step into my new role and look forward to passing on that support and guidance to newer members of the team.”

Mark Cotton

RML Group, the Wellingborough high-performance automotive engineering specialist, has hired Mark Cotton as chief commercial officer.

Cotton, a 13-year automotive industry specialist, has held a variety of senior management roles at leading manufacturers including BMW Group, McLaren Automotive and Bentley Motors where he was Global Head of Sales Operations. Latterly, as a senior business consultant, he supported the successful development and launch of a number of battery electric vehicles across the classic car, passenger vehicle and HGV sectors.

“I’m joining RML Group at a tremendously exciting time, as the business moves into a new era,” said Cotton. “RML has a global reputation for innovative ICE and EV technologies, bespoke vehicle manufacture, racing success and more. I’m thrilled to be joining this world-class team.”

Midlands-based accounting and advisory firm PKF Smith Cooper has added new faces to its employment tax and VAT team.

Kate Donlon and Lucy Brooks

Kate Donlon, employment tax manager based in the firm’s Derby office, joins PKF Smith Cooper after spending the first four and a half years at a big four firm in the East Midlands.

Lucy Brooks also joins the firm’s Derby office as assistant indirect tax manager, primarily working with businesses in the manufacturing, transport and logistics and eCommerce sectors.

Donlon said: “I am really looking forward to developing my knowledge, experience and client service by working with and learning from a diverse range of clients and colleagues. It is an exciting time to join PKF Smith Cooper and I am looking forward to being part of its continued growth and success.”

Brooks added: “I’m really excited to meet the team and widen my knowledge of indirect tax as well as sharing my current experience of working with overseas businesses.”
