A round-up of the latest news from the East Midlands teams at this year’s MIPIM show in Cannes.

East Midlands cities played a leading role in the first ever Midlands Engine event at MIPIM yesterday (Tuesday), with representatives from across the region speaking to an international audience about the region’s opportunities.

Teams from Nottingham and Lincolnshire were at the launch of the UK Midlands Engine Pitchbook, which was being revealed to international developers and investors for the first time.

The Midlands Engine Pitchbook is aimed securing more international investment into the region.

Audiences also heard of plans to create a dedicated Midlands pavilion at MIPIM in 2017.

Leader of Nottingham City Council councillor Jon Collins said: “This is a hugely important event for the Midlands and sees the Midlands Engine really taking shape. Launching the pitchbook at MIPIM, we will see real, tangible results from coming together as the East and West Midlands, combining our efforts to show the world the opportunities for development and growth that we have here.”

Part of the Midlands Engine Pitchbook is dedicated to Greater Lincolnshire investment and will showcase three opportunities; Lincolnshire Lakes, Scunthorpe, Grantham Town Regeneration Scheme/A1 Employment Land and Western Growth Corridor, Lincoln.

Ursula Lidbetter MBE, chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP said: “There will be representatives from Greater Lincolnshire at the launch including a large contingent from the private sector. This is a very important step for the Midlands Engine to reach an international audience of inward investors and developers; and launching the Pitchbook at MIPIM will enable investors to see all the opportunities in both the East and West Midlands.”

The team from Derby has been at MIPIM pushing its commitment to city centre living and Infinity Park.

At MIPIM, Derby has launched the brand new Infinity Park brochure, detailing the opportunities available in the Enterprise Zone.

Bob Betts, chairman of Marketing Derby said: “From creative design to the world HQ of Rolls-Royce civil aerospace, Derby has always been at the cutting edge of technology and, at MIPIM, the city has actively gone out to businesses across the UK, Europe and worldwide, offering global business opportunities few other cities in the UK can.”
