Business Bytes: Working too hard is bad for you

You may think that you’re a hero because you’re always the first in the office and last to leave, but productivity actually decreases the longer you work. Being focused on your career is good, but can be really bad for your health. Here’s why you should try working less.
Do you even remember your family and friends?
If it wasn’t for the occasional scroll on Facebook, you wouldn’t have a clue what is going on in your friends’ lives, and when was the last time you sat and had dinner with your family? You’re too obsessed with work that you are putting it before loved ones who helped you get there in the first place.
Bore off
It’s probably a good thing that you never see your loved ones, because all you do is talk about work or want them to feel sorry for you because of your work schedule. If you don’t give yourself enough time to relax, you will never turn off from work and will be a bore to be around.
You think you’re more important
Just because those around you aren’t addicted to work, it doesn’t mean that you’re any better than them. Because you think you’re more important than them, work colleagues and friends start to resent you and will be less likely to be there for you in times of need.
Quality is better than quantity
Just because you’re getting loads of work done every day, that doesn’t mean that it’s any good. You never stop working which means that your work never stands out to others. You should always aim for better quality than quantity as chances are, this is what your boss wants.
The love is dead
Who knows when you last went on a date night or had some fun with your significant other as you’re always far too busy to appreciate them. Build some time in and make them feel special whenever you can.
You’re addicted to success
You try and justify being obsessed with making money to be able to support those around you in the future. But try living in the moment and actually spending some time with them. Not everyone depends on your success and they would rather see you happy than in a bad place.
