Green light given to 100,000 sq ft science buildings

Over 100,000 sq ft of new science buildings at the University of Nottingham have been given the green light by Nottingham City Council.
The decision to grant planning permission for phases III and IV of Centre for Bimolecular Sciences Phase III & IV will bring forward 100,201 sq ft of laboratory, office and research space at University Park Campus, the 300 acre University of Nottingham campus.
The new buildings will house 852 people and will be designed by Newark architects Benoy.
Phase IV is set to be built before Phase III as the Manufacturing Engineering Building, which currently occupies the space Phase III will be sited on, will not move to its new accommodation until 2017.
Phase III and IV extensions will provide additional research space for the
University.
The campus has been part of the University since 1929 and contains a range of academic schools, period buildings, halls of residence and sport facilities.
