Plans in for Dock2 in Leicester

Plans have been submitted to build a 13,000 sq ft research and development building on Leicester’s Abbey Meadows Science Park.

The building, named Dock2, is designed by Idom Architects and will be two storeys high and accommodate around 130 people.

It will sit between the current original Dock building, which opened in 2014 and the National Space Centre which opened in 2001.

A planning application was made in 2009 for a two-storey R&D facility with storage and assembly space totalling around 16,000 sq ft. However, the building never saw the light of day.

The original Dock building offers a range of workspaces including office, lab and workshop space for up to 55 businesses.

Dock is located next to the National Space Centre, and is part of a new business investment area for innovation and technology industries, called Pioneer Park.
