Leicester logistics firm sold in pre-pack deal

AM Widdowson & Son, the Leicester transport firm, has been sold out of administration in a pre-pack deal to Widdowson Logistics.
AM Widdowson & Son slipped into administration on 6 July (CM 21 July) after falling into arrears on a CVA since July last year after agreeing to pay creditors 36p in the pound in a payment schedule stretching to 2020.
A letter to creditors from administrator Leonard Curtis said that HMRC wanted to take enforcement action to wind up AM Widdowson and Son, so administration was sought to protect the business and assets.
The firm was sold on the same day it went into administration for £2.5m in a pre-pack deal to Widdowson Logistics which has one director named as Damion Davis.
All 220 employees have been transferred to the new business under TUPE regulations. The firm runs 115 lorries from two depots in Leicester.
