This week’s Top 10 stories: Bankruptcy, building and bridges

All too often in this country sporting heroes seem to go off the rails. And so the fact that Willie Thorne – a man troubled with physical and mental illness in recent times – has been declared bankrupt owing hundreds of thousands of pounds is perhaps less shocking than it would’ve been in his 1980s heyday.
The Leicester snooker player’s bankruptcy was our most-read story of the week, although we hope that’s the last time we have to report such a negative story about him in our pages.
In second came our exclusive that the plans were in for a huge housing estate in East Leake, Nottinghamshire. In a week when it was revealed that less people now own a house than for decades, this is a real boost.
In third – another exclusive. This time we reported on law firm UHY Hacker Young’s move to 14 Park Row. We’ll have more news on an excitement time for this accountancy firm in September.
