A leading manufacturer of sauces has opened a new plant in Loughborough following support from Barclays.

BI Europe has moved to the new site on Kernan Drive in Loughborough to enable the business to further develop.

The business was established in 1982 in West London and primarily supplied controlled food products to the airline industry. In 1990, the business outgrew its premises and took the decision to move to Leicestershire attracted by its industrial land bank and a good supply of quality labour. This move enabled the business to expand its product range and offer bulk condiments to the retail and food service industries.

Kamal Dhutia, director of BI said: “The expansion of the business has instigated the move to bigger premises to expand our manufacturing output and to enable us to fulfil more orders. Being in Leicestershire has enabled us to recruit hardworking staff who have helped us to grow the business. To be successful today, you have to look for new markets in which to expand so that your client base spans a number of industries.”

Amit Sonpal, relationship director at Barclays in Leicestershire said: “BI Europe Ltd is a great example of a business which has identified a new market by expanding its product offering. I am delighted we have been able to support them with this move which will provide a sound platform on which to further develop the business.”

The business was visited by local MP Nicky Morgan who said: “It was wonderful to visit this wonderful new plant which was made possible because of the support from Barclays. It is an expanding business with an exciting future and I am looking forward to seeing them go from strength to strength. It’s great to see businesses such as BI Europe Ltd locating themselves in Loughborough and it is a boost for the local economy.”
