Encore hitches a ride with cab company

Encore Personnel with The London Taxi Company team

Leicester recruitment agency Encore Personnel has been appointed to help recruit the hundreds of engineers who will work on the manufacture of a new hybrid version of the iconic London black cab.

The Chinese parent of London Taxi Company has invested £250m in the development of the new plant at Ansty Park, near Coventry that will produce the new TX5 vehicle.

The operation is expected to lead to the creation of 1,000 new jobs, many of which are expected to be filled locally.

LTC has now tasked Encore with finding the skilled labour it will need.

Fifty people have already been appointed, with a further two recruitment phases planned for 2017.

Kristy Kenney, technical and engineering divisional manager at Encore, said: “We’re delighted to be working with LTC during what is an incredibly exciting time in the company’s history.

“(It) has made a huge investment to the local area by creating 1,000 new jobs in a region renowned for its automotive heritage. We look forward to seeing them establish their new home in Coventry and to support the business’ continued growth.”

John Perella, production manager at The London Taxi Company, said appointing an outside agency had helped to take the burden off LTC’s own HR team.
