On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Nelsons Solicitors has announced the promotion of Jennifer McNeil to an associate in the family team at the firm’s Leicester office.

McNeil’s promotion comes having also been recognised by Resolution – an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and professionals – as a Resolution Accredited Specialist.

Having studied for a degree in law and psychology at De Montfort University, McNeil began her career as a personal assistant for a partner in a Leicester law firm.

“From an early stage in my career I found that I enjoyed working in family law, so I decided to begin training as a paralegal and to convert my BA Honours degree to a full law degree. I went on to complete my LPC through distance learning – qualifying in 2011,” said McNeil.

“Having worked for a high street firm previously, I wanted to experience working for a regional law firm and joined the team at Nelsons in 2013. Nelsons has a well-established and well-respected family department dealing with divorce and the related financial matters – which was a big draw for me.

“I am really enjoying working at Nelsons and am delighted to have been promoted to associate. Within the team of five at our Leicester office, we each have our own specialisms, working across children and divorce cases, creating a knowledgeable and expert department that I am proud to be a part of.

Kevin Edwards

Accountancy firm RSM has appointed Kevin Edwards as a tax partner in its Nottingham office.

Edwards originally qualified as a chartered accountant after joining a Top 20 firm as a graduate trainee in 2000 and is also a chartered tax advisor.

Richard King, RSM’s office managing partner for Nottingham said: “I am delighted to welcome Kevin to the team. He has a wealth of experience in corporate tax and we are certain Kevin will make a significant contribution to the Nottingham team and help our clients achieve their key business objectives.”
