Great Northern Inns takes 20-year lease of Nottingham bar

AN independent pub companies has taken a 20-year lease of Saltbox on Bolero Square in Nottingham.
Great Northern Inns, based in Nottingham, has added to its portfolio of pubs, bars and restaurants with Saltbox becoming the company’s ninth venue.
Located next to the Motorpoint Arena, Saltbox is a contemporary bar and grill that offers dining, live music, sports coverage and private functions.
Seating up to 120 diners and with a total capacity of over 400, Saltbox originally opened in April this year following a substantial investment and development by its previous owners.
New operator Great Northern Inns, who has been operating bars in Nottingham for 28 years, plans to refresh the branding as well as introduce new menus for the bar and restaurant.
Director of Great Northern Inns, David Willans, said: “The location and huge potential of Saltbox presented a fantastic opportunity for us and with Fraser Brown’s help we are proud to be the new operators.
“It’s a beautiful venue with several different areas which lend themselves to events and private hire, plus as an existing sponsor of the Nottingham Panthers, we’re looking to build on this relationship further by offering a fantastic venue for fans pre and post-game.
“As a business, we are always on the lookout for the next opportunity and with Saltbox’s location, we knew it would be the ideal edition to our list of popular venues. While we plan to keep much of the layout and décor the same we will be making some changes to put our mark on it.”
The commercial property department at Fraser Brown worked with Mr Willans on securing the lease.
Solicitor Peter Thornley, said: “Saltbox is a well-established bar in the city centre and I’m sure it will be another success story for Great Northern Inns who continue to deliver popular venues in and around Nottingham.”
