Building company fined £5,000 over waste disposal evidence

A Nottinghamshire-based building company has been fined £5,000 for failing to provide the necessary evidence to Rushcliffe Borough Council that it safely and legally removed controlled waste.
Blox Home Improvements, of Radcliffe on Trent, was prosecuted at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 26 October. The charge relates to waste that was transferred between 19 May 2014 and 19 May 2016. The company failed to produce written waste transfer notes to Rushcliffe Borough Council when asked on 4 June 2016.
As well as the fine issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Blox Home Improvements has been ordered to pay a victim’s surcharge of £170 and £250 towards the Council’s legal costs.
