Architect firm wins £2.5m contract with window blind firm

How new Louvolite facility will look

Martin Walsh Architectural has been awarded a £2.5m contract to design a new manufacturing facility for Louvolite, the British manufacturer and distributor of window blind fabrics and systems.

The 15,600sq ft warehouse and 31,000 sq ft two-storey building will be based at Ashton Road in Hyde, Greater Manchester on the company’s existing premises.
The new development includes offices, a warehouse, production facility and a training and showroom.

It will be built by Radcliffe Construction and the civil and structural engineers are Leeds based Melia Smith and Jones.

West Yorkshire-based Martin Walsh Architectural was also responsible for leading the December, 2015 planning application for the site.

Matthew Robinson, technical director for Martin Walsh Architectural, said: “We were really excited to have been awarded the contract with Louvolite and that the proposed facility has now been given the green light.

“Louvolite is an innovative manufacturer, with an enviable reputation; we’re certainly proud to be supporting their expansion and to be a part of their journey.”

The project has been designed to emulate the mill window openings that were previously on the site it will also feature solar panels and acoustically enhanced façade materials to minimise noise pollution to the adjacent residential properties.

Work is expected to be complete in December, 2017.
