Two housing schemes worth £12.6m set to start in Liverpool and Wythenshawe
Two new housing developments worth a total of £12.6m are set to go ahead following Warrington-based Your Housing Group’s appointment of contractors MCI Developments and ENGIE.
Building 100 homes in total, the first development is off Edington Street, near Wavertree Technology Park in Liverpool, and the second development is in Wythenshawe.
Both will feature new one-bedroom apartments and a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes under the group’s Nuvu Living brand and will be available to rent, with Wythenshawe also featuring 16 shared ownership homes.
The homes will provide a much-needed offering in sought-after areas of Manchester and Liverpool.
Your Housing Group has appointed MCI Developments in Wavertree and ENGIE at the Amberley Drive, Wythenshawe site.
Lorraine Donnelly, development director at Your Housing Group, said: “We are excited about both developments and we know they will provide a great opportunity for the areas and the people living there.
“Your Housing Group embraces the principle that renting a home is a lifestyle choice and we’ve taken the opportunity to offer high quality, new-build homes in great locations.”
Andrew Garnett, land director at MCI Developments, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Your Housing Group, Wavertree has much potential and is an excellent location for commuting, local amenities and public transport.
“We are near to completing a development for the group in Birchwood and have recently started on site for 37 affordable homes in Stoke-on-Trent, so, together, we are building many new homes and helping to boost communities around the North West.”
Lee Francis, area director for ENGIE, said: “With so many new housing schemes poised for the centre of Manchester, it’s fantastic that Your Housing Group has recognised the need for more housing solutions in the outskirts of the city.
“These new rental properties will be a fantastic addition to Wythenshawe We’re thrilled to be on board.”
Your Housing Group owns and manages more than 28,000 properties across the North of England and has ambitions to build 5,700 more homes in the next five years.
The homes in Wavertree and Wythenshawe are expected to be popular with commuters, families and the local community thanks to their proximity to nearby transport links and facilities.
Construction on the new homes is expected to start in the Autumn.
