Housing Association joins housebuilding consortium

Social housing consortium JV North has welcomed a new member, taking the total to 22 as it continues to build more homes.

Liverpool-based Pine Court Housing Association, which is part of The Sovini Group that also includes One Vision Housing, has joined JV North as a procurement member.

It will use JV North’s framework to build 49 properties in Birkenhead, Wirral, in Homes England’s 2016/21 Shared Ownership Affordable Homes Programme.

The £6m development christened Livingstone Park includes 15 two- and three-bed houses and 34 one- and two-bed apartments.

All will be offered at affordable rent.

Managing director at Pine Court Housing Association, David Brown, said: “Being able to access JV North’s established framework and programme management team was very attractive and we are really pleased to have been accepted as a member of the consortium.

“It means we are able to tender the works in a more efficient and cost-effective manner and we will be able to start on-site far quicker.

“This is very important as there is great demand for the apartments and the sooner we can offer them to residents, the better.”

Wayne Gales, who is JV North chairman and chief executive of Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said: “Pine Court Housing Association joining JV North underlines the advantages of our consortium model.

“They will benefit from our collective, pooled resources such as access to our framework where they can tender works to local SMEs for work valued under £1m or to bigger companies for schemes over £1m.

“In doing so, they will receive a selection of competitive quotations helping them to build more homes for people in their communities.”

Pine Court Housing Association was formed in 1986 to provide high quality homes and housing services for those in need, with a specific focus on Chinese and South East Asian communities.

Homes are provided by the association in Liverpool and Wirral with bilingual services improving communications with tenants and residents.
