Haulier completes latest acquisition to take total turnover to £67m

Mark Jones, managing director, EFS Global

Burnley-based EFS Global has acquired a haulage business with operations in the UK and across Europe.

Austin Wilkinson is based in Atherton and provides haulage, freight forwarding and logistics services. The purchase price is undisclosed.

EFS Global is one of the North West’s largest freight forwarding and haulage groups.

It now has 13 depots and offices across the country and operates its own UK and European road freight fleet, while also being able to facilitate a vast range of worldwide import and export services, including customs clearances.

This deal is another significant step in showcasing EFS’s ongoing growth strategy across the UK.

In line with its growth strategy EFS Global now has a turnover of £67m with a £12m gross profit and £7m EBITDA.

Mark Jones, EFS Global managing director, said: “Austin Wilkinson is a much respected name so we are pleased to welcome them to the EFS group of companies. I’m sure it will be a positive acquisition as we continue to grow.”

The corporate team at law firm Davis Blank Furniss advised EFS Global on all aspects of the transaction including legal due diligence and transactional matters.

The team was led by Sonio Singh, partner and head of the corporate department, with support from Lauren Sever, employment partner Shiva Shadi, and property partner Jennifer Smith.

Paul Raftery and Barry Riley of Weightmans advised the sellers of Austin Wilkinson. Ben Barlow of Cowgills in Bolton and Manchester provided corporate finance support and advice.

Sonio Singh said: “Once again we were delighted to advise and assist the EFS Global team secure a major acquisition, as they continue to increase their sector reach across the North West and beyond.”

The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, CS Brunt, Bradtrans International, Horizon Distribution, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services, Caistor Distribution and, early last month, AFI UK.
