Consulting and engineering specialist, Tetra Tech, has relocated from MediaCity to 11 York Street in Manchester city centre.

The firm said the environmental credentials of the Gilbanks property were a key consideration in the move to the building which is the only Grade A office space in the central busineess district with an excellent BREEAM rating.

Tetra Tech has 27,000 associates working across the full project life cycle worldwide. In the UK and Europe it has more than 5,000 employees ‘Leading with Science’ to solve clients’ complex problems within the built environment.

Robert Bramwell-Carr, office principal for Tetra Tech’s Manchester office, said: “Over the past three years Tetra Tech has embraced a flexible and hybrid working model, and this office move reflects that.

“Our new office on 11 York Street in central Manchester will be a great space for our staff to work, interact and collaborate when they do come into the office.”

Craig Hatch, Tetra Tech president in the UK, said: “Manchester has long been one of our key regional markets.

“We want our staff to have the best possible working environment as well as being well connected to public transport and closer to our key clients in the city. Additionally, 11 York Street benefits from a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating which supports our commitments in achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 and becoming Climate Positive by 2030.”

11 York Street has several innovative green technologies, including LED lighting and regenerative drive technology passenger lifts which help to deliver an EPC A rating.

Tetra Tech was advised by Richard Dunn, partner at Sanderson Weatherall, who said: “Gilbanks has developed a high quality and innovative workspace. The central location and transport connections of 11 York Street make it an appealing choice for any professional firm.

“However, it was the environmental credentials of the building that made it an easy decision for Tetra Tech.”

Gilbanks officially opened its doors at 11 York Street on March 8, and is reporting strong interest from a range of professional service companies.

As well as their office space members will also have access to various event spaces, including a sky suite for events with a view of the city on the eighth level.

Alex Duckett, Gilbanks managing director, said: “We’ve been pleased with the response to our new business community in Manchester.

“The building has impeccable environmental credentials, and we’ve designed it to give people a premium working environment that they enjoy visiting and supports their productivity.”
