£50m supermarket regeneration scheme for Crosby

A £50m regeneration scheme in Crosby, anchored by a Sainsbury’s store, has been submitted for planning approval.

The detailed application for the 150,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme has been submitted by design and planning consultancy Turley Associates on behalf of Sainsbury’s and in conjunction with the Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council.

Designed to transform the eastern gateway of Crosby, it will comprise a new Sainsbury’s food store with car parking, a stand alone multi-storey car park and public transport interchange, several new retail units and a building designed for community uses.

The new supermarket would bring up to 400 full and part-time jobs to the area, with further jobs in the associated retail units.

Bob May, director at Turley Associates, said: “The proposed development would bring forward much needed investment in Crosby and benefit the local community directly.”
