Property Round-Up: Lowry footfall; Wates contract; Sanderson Weatherall, and more…

FOOTFALL at the Lowry Outlet Shopping Centre in Salford Quays was up 6% last year.

This led to higher sales figures, with shops in the centre registering an average annual turnover increase of 8.1%.

During the year 12 new shops opened, including Denby, Tefal and The Body Shop, covering 25,000 sq ft and creating 75 jobs.

The presence of more than 2,000 people working at nearby MediaCityUK has also had an impact on the centre’s restaurants, with food court sales up 6.7%.

The shopping centre was acquired from the Emerson Group by Peel Group for around £70m in August.
