Muse hands over Talbot Gateway offices

MUSE Developments has handed over the council offices element of the first phase of the Talbot Gateway scheme in Blackpool.

The £16m, 126,000 sq ft Bickerstaffe Square office development, built by Preston-based Eric Wright Construction, will be mainly occupied by the local authority but the first floor, and ground floor retail units, will be let out.

The Talbot Gateway scheme is a 25-acre mixed use project planned for the area around Blackpool North station.

It includes a new public square facing the station, more than 330,000 sq ft of offices, a supermarket, four new hotels, shops cafes and restaurants. Bickerstaffe Square is part of the first phase along with a 60,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s and a multi-storey car park.

Muse project manager Andrew Barton said: “These are amongst the most impressive offices we have delivered and we’re pleased that work is now complete. We look forward to Blackpool Council moving in over the next couple of months and delivering services to the town from their new, efficient offices.

“Although an ambitious scheme, Talbot Gateway has already begun to provide a much needed boost for the town centre, which will only be further evidenced when the neighbouring Sainsbury’s store opens to the public within the coming weeks.”
