£2.8m contract takes Seddon back to school
CONSTRUCTION group Seddon has been appointed by Withington Girls’ School to deliver a £2.8m extension.
Work has started on plans to create a new junior school and “social hub”.
The development – expected to be complete by early August 2015 – has a suite of eight classrooms as well as the hub which will link the junior and senior departments.
The extension will involve the use of pre-fabricated concrete walls and planting of a wildflower grass roof, with much of the work being carried out off site to reduce disruption.
Operations manager Andrew Slaney said: “It is a testament to our previous work at Withington Girls’ School that we have been asked back to help the school expand. As a company we have carried out hundreds of school refurbishments and new build projects over our 115-year history. We are currently on site and look forward to delivering this inspiring and innovative new building.”
