Green light for conversion of industrial site for residential scheme

Plans for the residential development of an industrial site near Rossendale in East Lancashire have been approved.

Rossendale Borough Council has approved the scheme for 107 units at Reedsholmes Works in Rawtenstall.

CBRE in Manchester, acting on behalf of Allied Textiles, secured the consent.

The site is currently occupied by a subsidiary company of Allied Textiles, the Coating Applications Group, which produces a range of PVC and PU coated fabrics for a number of specialist sectors, including hot air balloons, bouncy castles and tents.

Fiona Flint, senior planner for planning and development at CBRE Manchester, said: “The planned residential development will provide appealing, affordable housing within the village of Rawtenstall for prospective buyers.”

Stewart McGuffie, group chief executive of Allied Textiles, added: “We have been working on proposals for a scheme that is more in keeping with the locality for some time and are delighted that a residential development can now be delivered. We will also be carefully planning a relocation of the business which operates on the site to ensure continuity of supply to our customers.”
