Housebuilder acquires land for North Cornwall scheme

David Jervis, group managing director at Burrington Estates

Housebuilder Burrington Estates has acquired a site on the edge of Stratton in Cornwall, on the North Cornwall coast, with planning permission for 30 homes.

This follows Burrington Estates’ other current development in the area, Maer View in Bude where it is building a collection of 21 four bedroom properties, nine of which are affordable homes.

Located off Howells Road in Stratton, the new site extends to 3.7 acres and already has outline planning permission.

Burrington Estates has lodged a reserved matters application for 30 contemporary and eco-friendly homes together with associated infrastructure.

David Jervis, group managing director at Burrington Estates said: “We were delighted to finish 2022 by concluding the deal to purchase the site in Stratton. It is a great opportunity to develop an attractive, edge of town site to which we will bring our signature bespoke style of development. This part of North Cornwall is highly sought after and we are excited about creating a desirable and well-designed new community, following on from the success of our current development Maer View, nearby in Bude.”

Greenslade Taylor Hunt, the agent for the deal, managed the sale by informal tender before agreeing to the offer from Burrington Estates for an undisclosed price.

Michelmores acted for the seller and Ashfords acted for Burrington Estates. Burrington Estates’ team also included Trewin Design Architects, Tyler Grange, Sands & Boon Brown, as well as its major funder BGF.
