One of the three remaining retail units at the  Finzels Reach development in central Bristol has been let to artisanal chocolate start-up Ruby Hue.

Ruby Hue offers single origin bean to bar chocolate, produced on site, providing luxury chocolate drinks and artisanal treats for Finzels Reach residents, workers and visitors.

After testing their products online over the past two years, Michelin-trained chef Ruth Scanlon and award-winning mixologist Tom Hughes moved to Bristol from London in search of the perfect launch pad for their business.

The pair chose the 439 sq ft Unit 2 Hawkins Lane, right in the heart of the Finzels Reach development.

The new chocolate shop and café opened earlier this week.

Ruth Scanlon said: “We’re very excited to have launched Ruby Hue at Finzels Reach.  We hope it’ll quickly become another favourite neighbourhood destination.  We’ll be running tasting evenings and other special events will be introduced over time.”

Finzels Reach is a mixed-use development with nearly 800 apartments, a 168-bedroom Premier Inn hotel, 240,000 sq ft of office space in four buildings and 30,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space at Hawkins Lane.  Property agents Alder King and Fleurets were involved in the deal.

Sadie Cole of Alder King’s agency team said: “The Finzels Reach retail zone has become a real foodie destination, with restaurants and bars including Bocabar, Spicer & Cole, Left Handed Giant Brewpub, The Wellhead and Le Vignoble all attracting significant footfall.  Ruby Hue is a great complement to this line-up.

“It’s also fitting for Ruby Hue that the Finzels Reach site has a rich history in sugar refining as well as brewing.”

Alder King and Fleurets acted for Grainger plc, the UK’s largest listed residential landlord. As part of its long-term commitment to the communities in which it operates, Grainger’s well considered commercial strategy aims to create a vibrant local offering for its residents whilst also supporting local businesses and developing a thriving local community.
