Devon’s Sandford Orchards wins Morrisons listing
Devon-based Sandford Orchards’ new no alcohol cider, Red Zero has been listed in selected Morrisons stores.
Launched in October, Red Zero is a non-alcoholic version of its award-winning Devon Red cider.
Barny Butterfield, chief cidermaker at Sandford Orchards, said: “We are thrilled with the response we have received to Red Zero. We spent a lot of time and used all our cider expertise to ensure we created a real alternative to our top notch alcoholic cider. When you enjoy a Red Zero, you’re drinking a real fermented beverage with the alcohol filter extracted at 2 degrees. It isn’t the easiest or cheapest way to make a non-alcoholic drink but the resulting quality is second to none and the feedback from our customers proves that it is worth the extra effort and expense.”
He added: “Red Zero has been snapped up by our retail and hospitality customers looking for high quality drinks that are able to meet the discerning demands of the rapidly growing ‘no and low’ category. Morrisons is the first of the supermarkets to add Red Zero to their listings but I am confident that it won’t be the last.”
Founded in 2002, independent, family-owned Sandford Orchards is based in Crediton, Mid Devon in the oldest working cider mill in the UK.
The area has long been known as one of the most fertile parishes in all of Britain, both for its grazing and ability to grow apples.
Crediton sits in the lee of the moors, so receives the right amount of rain and the right units of heat in summer.
