Developer hails record year for affordable housing delivery

2024 has been a record year for Poole-based developer AJC Group, with 100 affordable homes delivered—an increase from 72 units the previous year.

With a total of 172 affordable homes now completed and handed over across five sites since 2023, the team said it is making significant strides towards its ambitious goal of building 500 affordable homes by 2028.

In 2024, AJC Group completed and delivered 186 units across three major housing developments. The 100 units allocated for affordable housing included 56 homes at The Hops (Dorchester Brewery) for Aster Group and 44 homes at Lindsay Road in Poole for Abri. An additional 86 homes were completed at AJC Group’s award-winning private development, The Sloop, in Poole.

The team has collaborated with three housing associations and two local authorities throughout 2024, including Aster, Abri, VIVID, New Forest District Council (NFDC), and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP).

David Cracklen, director of AJC Group, said: “2024 has been a record-breaking year for AJC Group, despite the challenging housing market. Our commitment to building sustainable, affordable homes has never been stronger. From private schemes to large-scale affordable housing projects, every development reflects our dedication to improving lives and creating thriving communities.

“Thank you to everyone who has worked with us in 2024 and enabled us to continue our ongoing commitment to delivering much-needed affordable housing across the Wessex region. We look forward to the year ahead and all the projects we currently have in the pipeline.”

AJC Group currently has 80 affordable homes under construction across three sites. These include 33 homes at Goods Yard in Broadstone for Abri, 22 homes at Hythe in the New Forest for NFDC, and 25 homes at Dibden Purlieu for Aster Group.
