Property People: KWB appoints director of office agency; Women in Property announces Midlands chair

Birmingham-based independent commercial property agency KWB has promoted Malcolm Jones to director of office agency.

A long-standing member of KWB’s office agency team, Jones has more than 22 years of commercial property experience, focusing on office sales and lettings in Birmingham city centre, Solihull and along the M42 corridor.

“I am delighted that Malcolm has become a director of our office agency business.  He is a highly efficient and well-connected property agent and his great knowledge of the regional office market and his depth of understanding of occupiers’ needs makes him highly adept at matching the right property to the right tenant or purchaser,” said John Bryce, fellow office agency director and director of KWB Group.

Jones added: “I am looking forward to working much more closely with John Bryce and Nigel Tripp on the future direction of the office agency business, and continuing to refine our unique approach at KWB which means that we can we provide potential office occupiers with all the property costs associated with moving to a new office, including fit-out and moving costs.  This makes it much easier for them to make a quick and informed decision.”

Women in Property has announced its new Midlands chair.

Kam Saini will lead the Birmingham-based Midlands branch of the national property and construction industry lobbying and networking organisation for one year.

She is an associate director within WYG’s Birmingham office and has been a member of Women in Property for two years.

She said: “Over the coming year, as an organisation, we will be focusing our attention on the skills shortage that is already evident.  This means getting into schools to talk about how great it is working in this industry, the variety and the opportunities out there.  Inspiring children at a young age is particularly important and critical to encouraging diversity in the future.

“The industry must also retain women already working in the built environment sector, who might be struggling with anything from a lack of flexibility in their working hours, through to needing advice on being more ‘visible’, for their own career development.  We can’t afford to lose these skilled women at a time when the country really needs them.”

Sarah Butterfield, director in the Birmingham planning team of WYG, added: “We are delighted that Kam is taking on this role and stepping up from vice-chairman, we know she has some great ideas for events and initiatives for her coming year and she has our full support. Women in Property provides excellent learning, networking and business development opportunities for professionals at all levels in a friendly environment. Experience tells us that relationships developed at graduate levels often come to fruition as peers grow together and providing such a welcoming environment for all is a major benefit. We look forward to seeing the West Midlands branch grow and flourish further with Kam at the helm.”
