Major regeneration project to bring forward 366 homes tipped for approval

A major regeneration project, which would deliver 366 new homes on brownfield land, is recommended to be approved by Birmingham City Council’s Planning Committee next week.

Located adjacent to Moseley Street to the south and east, and Cheapside to the north, the plans align with Birmingham City Council’s adopted Rea Valley Urban Quarter SPD and are part of a comprehensive plan to regenerate the area.

The proposals have been recommended for approval by planning officers and are being brought forward by Rainier Developments.

As well as creating hundreds of new homes, the plans are also set to deliver 33 affordable homes, along with a new green pedestrian link – to be known as Park Lane – through the site to help connect the area to Highgate Park.

Richard Mees, managing director of Rainier Developments, said: “We are excited to bring forward a scheme which aligns with the wider ambition for the Rea Valley Quarter.

“This site has been overlooked for too long, but we now have an opportunity to regenerate a vacant brownfield site and create new homes, including affordable homes. Should the plans be approved, this scheme will bring a new vibrancy to the area and contribute to its ongoing regeneration.”
