Half a dozen firms compete for £90m Post & Mail job

SIX of the country’s largest construction firms have submitted bids for the first phase of a £90m redevelopment of the former Post and Mail building in Birmingham city centre.
Balfour Beatty, BAM Construct, Morgan Sindall, Skanska, Thomas Vale and Vinci have all submitted bids for the £20m first phase, according to reports.
Mailbox developers Alan Chatham and Mark Billingham are the men behind the project and their company Chatham Billingham (P & M) has employed Faithful + Gould as its agent on the project.
The first phase of the redevelopment will see the existing building demolished to create a 800-space car park with a two storey building above.
The second phase will be the construction of a 14-storey building. Outline consent has been obtained for the scheme.
