WORK has commenced by Bromsgrove-based Benniman Construction Group on the first phase of the £9m speculative industrial development at Bromsgrove Technology Park.

The project is being led by regeneration partnership PxP West Midlands which is a limited partnership between Advantage West Midlands and property developers Langtree.

It is the largest project undertaken by the partnership to date and will feature 13 units with a combination of general industrial and storage/distribution in the first phase, totalling 35,550 sq ft.

The units will be constructed in three blocks and are due for completion this summer.

Additional hard standing and roads will also be laid around the 6.4-acre site in preparation for future phases.

When completed, the overall scheme will offer 98,000 sq ft of industrial alongside offices and toilets to BREEAM ‘very good’ standard. The site is located off the A38 at Isidore Road.

It was designed by architects Archial, which has an office in Birmingham and is headquartered in London, and has meeting rooms, a library and landscaped gardens and fits around an oak tree. BHS occupies around 75% of the total 20,000 sq ft site.

BIRMINGHAM-based Kone has completed the multi-million pound installation of an elevator system at Severn Trent’s new HQ in Coventry.

This is the first building in the city to use the firm’s control system which strives to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency of buildings.

Six lifts have been installed in the 170,000 sq ft headquarters, in St John’s Street, with users choosing their floor before entering lifts so cars be organised more efficiently by the lift system based on floor requests.
