WMCCE 2011: Celebrating the region’s finest construction

THE finest projects and people from the West Midlands construction industry have been recognised and celebrated at the 2011 WMCCE Awards.

Organised by the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence, the 2011 scheme awarded prizes across nine separate categories as well as a special recognition gong for Steve Vickers, for 42 years of service with Birmingham City Council.

The big winners at the ceremony, held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, were the city’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The QEH was praised by the judges for the way MACE delivered such a grand scheme and handled the various challenges it faced while the theatre project received credit for its sensitive renovation.

WMCCE Throughout this week, the stories behind the winners have been highlighted on TheBusinessDesk.com and also in a special downloadable supplement produced by WMCCE.

To bring the projects to life, we have also carried a picture gallery featuring all of the winners.
