Wakemans wins Welsh trio of projects

BIRMINGHAM-based property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been appointed on three projects in the Caernarfon area of North Wales.

They comprise the redevelopment of a tennis centre, a housing refurbishment scheme and a community centre extension.

Working on behalf of Gwynedd Council, Wakemans has acted as designer, project manager and construction, design and management co-ordinator, as well as providing architectural services, on the redevelopment of Arfon Tennis Centre in Caernarfon.

Wakemans is acting as designer and project manager on the refurbishment of 35 homes for Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd.

Following the transfer of housing stock from Gwynedd Council in 2010, the housing association will invest £136m over the next four years.

The community centre project encompasses improvements and an extension to the facility.

Wakemans is acting as designer, project manager, quantity surveyor and CDM co-ordinator on the £250,000 scheme, which will provide multi-function community rooms.

Director John Woodhall said: “We have maintained a steady workload in Wales despite the current economic challenges.

“Having an office in the locality has helped us build important and long term relationships with our clients and the professional community.”
