Forklift firm on the up with move to new premises

Masterfit House

A Black Country forklift components supplier is relocating to larger premises to support its growth.

Midland Group, which employs 18 people, is moving from Jervoise Street in West Bromwich to a 33,005 sq ft industrial unit at Masterfit House, Colliery Road, which is still in the town.

The company, which has an 18-strong workforce, is hoping the relocation will prove the catalyst for new jobs.

Established in 1988, Midland Group is a leading supplier to the materials handling sector, providing re-engineered electric motors and holding the UK’s largest range of forklift starter motors and alternators.

The relocation will enable the firm to continue with its work remanufacturing and refurbishing obsolete motors, as well as developing an on-site training facility.

Director Gary Millington said: “We have simply run out of room where we are as a result of steady growth.

“We needed a bigger warehouse to allow the business to develop further.”

He said the firm had wanted to stay close to its current base as its strong transport links made it easy to dispatch its products to customers.

Midland Group hopes to be up and running at the new site by the summer. It has agreed a 10-year lease on the unit under a deal arranged by property agents Bond Wolfe.

James Mattin, Bond Wolfe managing director, said: “One of our specialties is industrial property and it is great to see a local company on the up.”

Bond Wolfe was acting for Masterfit House landlord Riaar Plastics.
