Eversheds Sutherland has added to its human resources group in Birmingham after recruiting partner Georgina Rankin from Squire Patton Boggs.

Rankin moves after nearly 20 years at the firm, and its predecessors, to become part of Eversheds’ 16-strong pensions team.

Emma King, head of Eversheds’ pensions team in Birmingham, said: “This is an exciting move for all concerned. Georgina is highly respected in both the legal and pensions markets, and has the ideal combination of experience, knowledge and expertise to help take our team in the direction we want to head.”

Rankin specialises in advising corporate sponsors and trustees of occupational pension plans. Recent work includes advising on a merger project that created a pension scheme with an asset value in excess of £1bn, and on a buy-out project with multiple insurance companies.

She said her new firm “has a formidable pensions capability and an impressive reputation for its client base”.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to work with Emma and the team and to be able to combine our collective knowledge and expertise to further enhance our already significant position in the markets,” she added.
